2022 LCS Summer Week 2 Preview

In Week 2 of the 2022 Summer Split the top teams are looking to separate themselves from the pack and bottom teams are looking to find an upset and recover from their poor showings in Week 1.

Match-by-match predictions are at the bottom

The 2022 Summer split is continuing on after last week's superweek. There are very few matchups between what I consider to be top teams, as the only one would be Cloud9 facing 100 Thieves, and that would only be if Cloud9 were able to get Berserker and Zven back. Another matchup to keep an eye on would be CLG and Evil Geniuses, who could both potentially be undefeated when they face on Sunday. With that, let’s take a look at each team's matchups for this week!

Counter Logic Gaming (3-0)
Counter Logic Gaming dominated in Week 1 by beating DIG, TSM, and GG. Winning every game was quite surprising, but CLG also faced very weak opponents. Cumulatively, they ended up 2-7. This week, CLG will spar against FlyQuest and Evil Geniuses. Based on their previous games, I think they should be able to beat FlyQuest, who have looked pretty weak so far. I also think they will lose to Evil Geniuses, since EG seems to be of a higher caliber than CLG is.
Predictions: WIN vs FLY, LOSS vs EG

Evil Geniuses (3-0)
Evil Geniuses swept their opponents in Week 1, beating Cloud9, 100 Thieves, and FlyQuest. Their MSI experience translated to LCS domination; they took down some pretty solid teams. I expect EG to continue to rampage through the LCS by winning against IMT and CLG.
Predictions: WIN vs IMT, WIN vs CLG

Team Liquid (3-0)
Team Liquid was the third and final team to go undefeated in Week 1. They smashed every game, and are looking to continue their success in Week 2. They face TSM and FlyQuest, and should take care of them both handily.
Predictions: WIN vs TSM, WIN vs FLY

100 Thieves (2-1)
In Week 1, 100 Thieves beat two teams that seem to be in pretty poor form, and lost to one of the best teams in the league in Evil Geniuses. This makes it hard to tell how strong 100T actually are, but I am inclined to believe that they are a top 5 team. Thus, they should beat Golden Guardians, and are likely to beat Cloud9, especially if C9 is still missing its bot duo.
Predictions: WIN vs GG, WIN vs C9

FlyQuest (1-2)
FlyQuest looked like they lost some momentum from the spring split, as even though they beat Golden Guardians, they lost to Evil Geniuses and Immortals. I expect them to continue this downward trend and lose to both Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid.
Predictions: LOSS vs CLG, LOSS vs TL

Golden Guardians (1-2)
Golden Guardians dropped games to FlyQuest and Counter Logic Gaming but defeated Cloud9, who were missing their bot duo. Due to GG's poor form, I think they will lose both games this weekend.
Predictions: LOSS vs 100T, LOSS vs TSM

Immortals (1-2)
Immortals looks like a weak team after Week 1 of summer. They lost to both TSM and Team Liquid, and beat a mediocre FlyQuest team. Evil Geniuses will likely run them over with brute force, and IMT should beat Dignitas, who look like the worst team in the LCS.
Predictions: LOSS vs EG, WIN vs DIG

Team Solo Mid (1-2)
TSM beat Immortals, but lost to Counter Logic Gaming and 100 Thieves in Week 1. With the two new additions to the team, they still look like they are figuring out how to work together and coordinate themselves. I think TSM should be able to stem the bleeding and pick up a win against GG this week.
Predictions: LOSS vs TL, WIN vs GG

Cloud9 (0-3)
Cloud9 had an abysmal start to the split, losing to Evil Geniuses, Golden Guardians, and Team Liquid. Missing their bot duo of Berserker and Zven was definitely an issue, and hopefully they will be back this week. They should beat Dignitas in the toilet bowl with or without their new bot laners, but they will likely lose to 100T who are in better form right now.
Predictions: WIN vs DIG, LOSS VS 100T

Dignitas (0-3)
Dignitas looks like the worst team in the LCS. They lost to Counter Logic Gaming, Team Liquid, and 100 Thieves. But it wasn't that they lost, it was how: they never put up a fight in their games and just sort of rolled over and died. Therefore, it appears like they will lose both games this weekend.
